"This is not a survey"

Got this from Project Slipstr3am. Doesn't make sense to me either but what can you say? It's late.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 23.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the sentence as a comment in my journal.
5. Post the text of the sentence in your own journal along with these instructions.

Why is he there day after day?" (from "Baseball as the Bleachers Like It" by Charles E. Van Loan) Taken from the excellent "Baseball: A Literary Anthology" edited by Nicholas Dawidoff, which has more gems I've been meaning to share with you as well.

"They [energy conservation techniques] reduce oxygen consumption, allowing more prolonged activity" (Mosby's Nursing Care Plans- Nursing Diagnosis and Intervention by Gulanick et al). Not quite as interesting as your choice, but if you've some medical issues, you know where to find the answers. :P

"Almost every word is altered depending upon its use in the sentence and its meaning" (from William D. Mounce's Basics of Biblical Greek).

I hope Bucky doesn't think I'm ghoulish because I want to move in. (from "L" is for Lawless by Sue Grafton - hubby-head is reading it, and it was the closest book at hand)

Thanks for sharing!

Mine:

"Out of comradeship can come and will come the happy life for all." - Heywood Broun, The Fifty-first Birthday.

"Good-bye, once more; come, Agatha." (From a collection of Oscar Wilde's plays--this one is from Lady Windermere's Fan.)

boy this is interesting:

"...They say that joy never harms anyone, so I came in without any warning." -from "The Count of Monte Cristo" by Alexandre Dumas

"Some people have also been victims of discrimination." - Pshychology for A2-level (third edition... now in full colour!)
